Police: Umpire inquiry continues

Body

The report of an umpire pulling a gun after a baseball game between Eunice High and Church Point High remains under investigation, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.
Police clarified that it was the brother of an ejected player who reported an umpire pulling a pistol in the parking lot at Eunice High School.
An earlier story incorrectly stated it was the father of the ejected player who saw the pistol.
Fontenot said the umpire reportedly reached into his vehicle, pulled out a pistol, cocked it and said if things heated up “I’ll leave both of you dead here in the dirt,”
Police were called to the scene at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
On Friday morning, Fontenot said in a text message that police are following up on the investigation and looking for any witnesses “to get to the truth of the matter.”
Fontenot initially said an arrest warrant was to be served on an umpire from Scott, but put that arrest on hold Thursday pending additional investigation.
