Police: Washington man charged with rape after being shot

A 23-year-old man who was shot in the right leg, was later charged with first-degree rape, Eunice Police Deputy Chief Richard Daigle said.
Darraine Robinson, 23, 4300 block of Hwy. 10, Washington, was arrested Tuesday on the rape charge.
The rape reportedly occurred in October 2016 and involved a 15- or 16-year-old girl who became pregnant, he said.
Robinson is accused of abducting the girl while she was on her way home from school, driving to a unknown location where he forced her to have sex. Daigle said. Robinson then drove the girl home, he said.
The alleged incident was reported over the weekend, he said.
Robinson said the sex was consensual., Daigle said.
On Saturday, Robinson was wounded in the right leg in a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Ulysses street.
Robinson was taken to Acadian Medical Center for treatment.
A suspect to Robison’s shooting has been identified, Daigle said.
