Pursuit leads to stolen vehicle, charges against Lafayette man

A 35-year-old Lafyette man was captured after a pursuit through Chataignier and into St. Landry Parish ending on La. 103 at McGuffy Road where the vehicle wrecked into the ditch.
David Wayne Guillory, 35, was charged with on count of aggravated flight from an officer and possession of stolen things, according to a news release from Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles R. Guillory.
The incident started at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday when Sgt. Christopher Soileau with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office noticed a black Toyota car on the side of the road near the 3000 Block of La. 29 with its hazard lights on.
Soileau checked the plate information through dispatch and it was discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Lafayette. The pursuit followed.
Soileau detained Guillory after a foot chase.
Guillory was taken to the St. Landry Parish Jail where he is being held on an active warrant for St. Landry Parish.
The flight and stolen vehicle charges were brought in Evangeline Parish where bail was set $60,000.
Also involved were Eunice and Opelousas police, Louisiana State Police Troop I troopers and St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies.
