Sheriff: Man preyed on teen girl, threatened sibling

Body

A 22-year-old Eunice man is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl and threatening the girl’s sibling, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in a news release.
A parent reported to the St. Landry Sheriff’s Juvenile Detectives Section that their daughter was having sex with a 21-year-old male, he said.
“The parent reported that they returned home and caught the two in bed together. The suspect then jumped out the window of the home and fled when the parent went to call the police,” he said.
The juvenile girl told detectives she and Jawaun Jamel Montgomery began “dating” on Oct. 6, 2016, he said.
The juvenile said Montgomery was aware of her age and knew she was in high school, he said.
“On a separate and related occasion, Montgomery pulled out a knife on a sibling when told to leave and threatened to stab the sibling. Montgomery then began to stalk the juvenile,” he said.
Montgomery was contacted by detectives to meet them at the sheriff’s office for an interview, but would never show up, Guidroz said.
Montgomery was arrested Wednesday by Eunice City Marshal deputies at Rodney and West Vine streets in Eunice.
Montgomery’s address is in the 700 block of South Beulah Street.
He is charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, aggravated assault and stalking, Guidroz said.
No bail has been set.
