There as a report of shots, fired, an investigation and then an arrest on Saturday.
At about 10 a.m., Eunice Police received a call about gun shots being heard on East Ash Avenue.
When police arrived at the scene in the 200 block of East Ash they were given a description of the shooter.
Police were told “that he was shooting in the air and then walking to a residence,” Detective Sgt. Robert Brickley said.
Lt. Jeremey Ivory made contact with the suspect, identified as Caleb Edwards, 29, of the 1400 block of Dudley Street in Eunice.
“He confessed to firing the weapons and gave a story that he was shooting back at someone,” Brickley said.
Initially Edwards was going to give a weapon to police, but then told them they needed a search warrant, he said.
When police searched the residence, they smelled marijuana and recovered two 9mm pistols, he said.
Police also seized about a pound of marijuana, 20 grams of crack cocaine, some powdered cocaine and suboxone, he said.
Police also found body armor and $550 in cash, he said.
“If you got that much dope it is not smart to go and shoot your gun,” Brickley said.
One pistol’s serial number was obliterated, he said.
Brickley said there was ammunition found throughout the house.
Charges against Edwards include possession with intent to distribute marijuana, crack cocaine, cocaine and suboxone, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm with obliterated serial number, transaction involving proceed, possession of firearm convicted of felony, unlawful use of body armor, illegal discharge of firearm and violation of controlled drug in drug-free zone.
