An umpire in the baseball game between Eunice High and Church Point High on Tuesday is suspected of pulling a gun out during a disturbance related to the game.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said the incident began when a player was ejected from the game.
Eventually, the parent of the ejected Church Point player and others were with the umpire in the parking lot, Fontenot said.
Correction: Fontenot said in a latter report it as the brother of the ejected player who reported the gun incident.
The umpire reached into his vehicle, pulled out a pistol, cocked it and said if things heated up “I’ll leave both of you dead here in the dirt,” Fontenot said.
A conversation continued and the umpire left, he said.
An arrest warrant had been issued for the umpire, who is from Scott, he said.
Fontenot declined to identify the suspect and victims citing the ongoing investigation.
Police were called to the scene at about 8:30 p.m.
