Eunice Elementary tapped for Leader in Me, Myers Family Foundation

Eunice Elementary and three other schools in St. Landry Parish have been added to those to particpate in The Leader in Me program. according to an announcement by the St. Landry-Evangeline United Way.
The Leader in Me, a whole school transformation model that empowers students with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. Based on the Stephen Covey book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” leadership traits are taught directly to students, but more significantly, integrated seamlessly with everyday lessons across all curricular areas.

St. Landry-Evangeline United Way moving its office in January

The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way will be moving its operation from its West Vine Street location to the St. Landry Economic Development facility on I-49 in January.
Ginger LeCompte, executive director of St. Landry-Evangeline United Way, said, “We will open our doors in a more modern facility, with access to greater business technology and multi-functional work spaces.”

United Way plans Boogie Ball

The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way Boogie Ball will be held on from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Opelousas Delta Grand Theatre.
Food will include Cochon “Ghoul”lait provided by Café Josephine, eggplant and shrimp dressing from Soileau’s, and brisket.
A silent auction with goodies and delights from many local shops and restaurants.
Costumes are optional, but encouraged. Monster mash to the band Southwinz. Cash bar.

Applications invited for Emergency Food and Shelter funds in St. Landry Parish

St. Landry-Evangeline United Way will oversee distribution of federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/ Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program designated for St. Landry Parish.
St. Landry Parish will be rewarded about $95,000. Phase 33 of the grant is $46,790 and Phase 34 of the grant is $48,575.
