Remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice

The Memorial Day ceremony is held as a solemn event to celebrate “these people’s lives” said VFW Commander Donnie Fontenot as he stood near the monument with those who died in service to the nation.

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot is to be guest speaker at the Memorial Day ceremony scheduled at 5 p.m. Monday at the South 2nd Street Memorial Monument brick walkway and the Rotary Fountain.

A Memorial Day service was held at 5 p.m. Monday at the corner of Park Avenue and 2nd Street in Eunice. The annual event was sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of the Foreign Wars, Doucet-Aucoin Post 8971 and the American Legion Post 129 Turner-Mornhinveg Moore.
