14-year-old boy killed in Church Point shooting

A 14-year-old boy is dead and an 18-year-old is in jail following a shooting in Church Point Tuesday night. Sheriff K.P. Gibson said the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Church Point Police conducted an investigation into the incident in the corporate limits of Church Point.

A St. Landry Parish Grand Jury indicted Phillip Lafleur of second-degree murder in the death of his great uncle Dale Lafleur. The indictment was returned on Tuesday to 27th Judicial District Court Judge D. Jason Meche.

Leland Hamm,  wanted in connection with the July 1 murder of a Shreveport man in Turkey Creek. has been arrested in Oklahoma. KOKI Fox 23 News in Oklahoma reported on Nov. 25 that Hamm had been arrested in a parking lot of a Lowe’s in the town of Owasso, Oklahoma.
