Junkyard fire

At about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Eunice firefighters along with firefighters from Fire Acadia District 4, St. Landry Fire District 6 and the Basile Fire Department reported to a fire at the car junkyard located at Dresser Loop, north of Eunice, off of the old Basile Highway, La. 757.

City may get a used fire truck (or two) from New Orleans

The city of Eunice may get a fire truck, or two, from the city of New Orleans. Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot explained the possibility at a Kiwanis Club meeting Thursday. Fontenot said he was reading that the city of New Orleans was buying 21 new ladder trucks and 500 police cars.

Eunice aldermen move to update aging fire truck fleet

The agenda item was not much more than a blink of an eye, but in that moment the Eunice Board of Aldermen cleared the way to update the city’s aging fire truck fleet. Mayor Scott Fontenot is to buy a new fire truck expected to cost about $400,000.

Eunice woman accused of arson

A 40-year-old Eunice woman was charged with simple arson by the State Fire Marshal after a house at 311 North Cane St. burned about 1 a.m. Sunday. Adrienne Sherrell Guillory was arrested Monday in connection with the fire at the house she was renting, Deputy Chief Fire Marshal Brandt Thompson said.
