Melder, Vidrine exchange vows during evening ceremony

St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice was the setting for the evening double ring ceremony uniting Heather Jade Melder and Edward Vidrine III in Holy Matrimony.
The evening ceremony was held on Saturday, April 6 at 6 p.m. with Rev. Clinton Sensat, and Deacon Timothy Marcantel officiating. Deacon Marcantel of Erath is an uncle of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of Richard and Rene Melder of Eunice, and the groom is the son of Edward Vidrine Jr. and Theresa Vidrine of Mamou.
Jase Reeves, son of Adam and Nikki Reeves of Plaquemine, carried a hand-held sign announcing the bride’s appearance.
Church lectors were Latosha Ardoin of Mamou, friend of the couple, and Loretta Sue Marcantel of Erath, godmother of the bride.
Sarah Pulling was the vocalist during the ceremony, accompanied by Connie Beaugh, organist.
The bride, given away by her father, was radiant in an ivory Alure bridal gown of a slim flared silhouette. The dress featured an overlay of lace applique voile. Crystal beading and lace framed the v-neckline and covered the bodice. The scalloped lace hem extended to a chapel-length train, trailing beneath the illuison button appliqued back.
The bride’s cathedral veil, a gift from her older sister, featured crystals scattered throughout and was attached to the back of her hair with crystals and pearls.
She carried a fresh hand-held bouquet of ivory and pink Sophia roses, lavender and white wax flowers, white lizianthus, Italian ruscus, seed eucaltyptus and blue thisole flowers.
Serving as matron of honor was Christina M. Parsley of Petaluma, California, sister of the bride.
Junior bridesmaid was Emily Reeves of Plaquemine, daughter of Adam and Nikki Reeves. Nicolette J. Melder of Eunice, sister of the bride, served as a bridesmaid.
The junior bridesmaid wore an ivory long lace gown with a matching belt forming into a bow in the back in matching colors of the bridesmaids attire.
The bridesmaids wore Mora Lee gowns of deep sea chiffon in different styles. All attendants’ hair cascaded in curls down their back with pearls and crystals entertwined down the length of their hair.
The matron of honor and bridesmaids carried spring bouquets of white babies breath, blush roses and lavender sprigs. The junior bridesmaid carried a bouquet of white babies breath.
Serving as flower girl was Natalie Reeves of Plaquemine, daughter of Adam and Nikki Reeves. She wore a long length white chiffon dress with a matching belt and bow in the back. She carried a hand made basket of spring flowers.
Alex Reeves, godson of the bride, son of Adam and Nikki Reeves of Plaquemine, served as the ring bearer. He carried a hand made ring box made by the groom.
Serving as best man was Edward Ryder of Crowley, childhood friend of the groom.
Groomsman was Stephen Ardoin Jr. of Mamou, friend of the couple.
The groom wore a formal classic three-piece black suit with a notched lapel, white shirt and a white Windsor tie. The groomsman wore an identical black formal classic three-piece suit with a notched lapel, white shirt and a black Windsor tie.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the La Belle Venue in Eunice.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to New Orleans and have made their home in Mamu.
The bride and groom are both locally employed.
