325 early voted by noon Friday in Eunice

As on noon Friday there had been 325 early votes cast at the poll in the Eunice Municipal Complex, 301 South 2nd St. Early voting ended at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Early voting also occurred at the registrar of voters office in Opelousas.

Baltakis announces candidacy for Ward 1 alderman

Dr. Tony Baltakis has announced he will run for alderman in Ward 1 in the Nov. 6 election. His announcement follows. Baltakis has lived in Eunice, with his wife Donna, for 21 years. He is a professor of history at LSU Eunice. Baltakis served two terms as Faculty Senate chair.

Sattler elated; says he’s got big shoes to fill

Marion “Nootsie” Sattler is the lone city candidate in Eunice to end up unopposed after qualifying closed on Friday for the Nov. 6 election. “I’ve got big shoes to fill,” he commented about his unchallenged bid to succeed Jack Burson as alderman at-large.

Sattler is lone qualifier for Eunice alderman at-large seat

Three Eunice candidates apparently qualified for their offices without opposition, according to the state Secretary of State’s website on Friday. Marion “Nootsie” Sattler was the lone qualifier for the alderman at-large position now held by Jack Burson. Burson has held the job for 24 years.
