Survey finds Eunice a tad more littered

An annual survey of litter in Eunice found the city a bit worse off this year than in previous years, according to Donna Baltakis, Keep Eunice Beautiful director. Baltakis delivered the report at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting at the Eunice Municipal Complex.

City to adjust millage

Eunice aldermen will be asked to vote on a public hearing about a “roll forward” of the 2017 property tax millage rates. That tax question is one of several items placed on the agenda for the 6:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting of the Board of Aldermen at the Eunice Municipal Complex, 300 S. 2nd St.

Retail growth possible near Walmart

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot provided few details, but said additional retail development around the Walmart Supercenter is possible. Fontenot said he met with a developer from the Lafayette area who is interested in establishing retail sites around Walmart.

Eunice council starting with light agenda

The agenda items ran on the light side as the agenda was set for Tuesday’s Eunice Board of Aldermen meeting. Mayor Scott Fontenot, Alderman at-large Jack Burson and Alderman Dale Soileau were the elected officials attending the meeitng Thursday at City Hall.

Aldermen OK resolution opposing closing LSUE

Eunice aldermen passed a resolution to be sent to legislators and the governor to oppose closing Louisiana State University Eunice. The action at Tuesday’s meeting came at the request of Jack Burson, alderman at-large.
