The Eunice High Lady Bobcats claimed their second victory in district play with a 56-32 win over Church Point in basketball action played at the Bobcat gym this past Friday.
Coach Wayne Fontenot’s Lady Cats took an early lead by outscoring the Lady Bears by an 11-6 margin in the opening quarter.
Leah Walker and Stacie White combined to score eight points in the quarter. Hailey Sonnier chipped in with two points in the quarter.

Oberlin grabbed a sweep over St. Edmund Friday as the Lady Tigers earned a 61-42 win over the Lady Jays before the Tigers battled to a 63-47 win over the Blue Jays in the finale.
The Lady Tigers (7-12, 2-2) jumped out to a 16-7 first quarter advantage including an 8-2 run to open the game.
The Lady Jays (7-10, 1-3) closed the margin to 11-7 on a free throw by Mary Beth Lafleur and an inbounds bucket from Savannah DeViller.
Oberlin finished the period with a lay-up and a three-pointer at the buzzer by Kristian Anderson.
OPELOUSAS – The No. 2 seed Eunice Lady Bobcats went 0-2 in the St. Landry Parish basketball tournament held this past weekend at Opelousas High.
In the opener, Northwest exploded for a 31-10 first quarter run as the Lady Raiders cruised to 82-14 win.
With a bucket by Jesslyn Reed and another by Stacie White, the Lady Cats closed the gap to 15-4 midway through the quarter.
White hit a jumper to pull Eunice closer, 22-6.
White later converted a three-point play with 1:43 remaining as Lady Cats closed the margin to 24-10.
The Bobcats opened the 2017 season at 1-4 and finished with a 5-6 overall record after an opening round playoff loss to Berwick.
Heading into this season, Eunice head coach Paul Trosclair was concerned about facing a daunting schedule with a young team, but as the season progressed, Eunice’s only losses came to district rivals Church Point and Iota.
