Courtney Fruge promoted to HR manager at LSUE

LSU Eunice announced that Courtney Fruge has been elevated to serve as human resources manager. Fruge is a familiar face on campus, having worked at LSUE starting in 2014. Fruge serves as executive assistant to the chancellor, a post she has held for four years.

Five community service awards were presented at the Eunice Board of Aldermen’s meeting Thursday. As Alderwoman Germaine Simpson read the names, Mayor Scott Fontenot did the honors to individuals and groups. “We have a lot of things going on here in Eunice.

Bellard: Plan would upgrade all parish roads

St. Landry Parish Jessie Bellard said he is working on a plan that would upgrade all parish roads. Speaking to the Eunice Rotary Club, Bellard said he visited Washington, D.C., in January with a goal of obtaining grants for the parish.

Belly Buddies to battle hunger in kids

There will be a first Belly Buddies Color Fun Run in downtown Eunice from 10 a.m. to noon on April 13. This Color Fun Run’s purpose is to provide food to Eunice’s most vulnerable students through the non-profit Belly Buddies.

Mardi Gras unfolds as a perfect day to party

The sky was a deep blue and the day warmed into the comfortable 60s for a Mardi Gras that drew what was probably a record crowd to downtown Eunice. The Mardi Gas runs no matter what the weather — maybe something like a hurricane would stop it.
