Burge named interim CEO at Savoy Medical Center

Gene Burge will assume the role as interim CEO at Savoy Medical Center effective March 11. Burge has had many roles at Savoy Medical Center in his 40 plus years, including CRNA, director of anesthesia and was the CEO of Savoy Medical Center from December of 2016 until his retirement in 2021.

Energy district created

The St. Landry Parish Council approved the creation of an energy generation district to regulate the development and operation of green energy in the parish.

Angelia Guillory named Rotary’s Eunice Citizen of the Year

Angelia Guillory is the 2023 Rotary Citizen of the Year. Guillory was recognized and honored at the Rotary Club meeting Wednesday. Two members of her family were present for the presentation, Jerry Ann Vital of Lake Charles, a cousin; and her brother, Sherby Guillory Jr. of Houston, Texas.

Crawfish Etouffeé Cook-off scheduled Saturday in March

The Eunice Chamber of Commerce executive director Kayla Heinen is preparing for the upcoming annual World Championship Louisiana Crawfish Etouffee Cook-off to be held March 23. Heinen said she is looking forward to it and hoping for a huge crowd.

Lance Armentor, former president and CEO of Savoy Medical Center in Mamou, will be the new president and chief executive officer of Opelousas General Health System on April 1. Gina Bradley Tuttle, chairwoman of the Opelousas General Health System Board of Trustees, announced the appointment.
