Cassidy’s office to hold constituent assistance events

The office of U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) will hold four constituent assistance events on Monday and Tuesday in southwest Louisiana, for constituents needing assistance with federal agencies ranging from the Social Security Administration to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

While most of the population were either taking it easy or celebrating while they ushered in 2024, two Rayne residents kept busy.

Tri-Parish jobless rates climb

Tri-Parish unemployment rates are up from a year ago in November, according to statistics released on Thursday by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The state’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for November was 3.5%, up from 3.2% in November 2022.

Guillory Oil President Michael A. Guillory has been named to the JD Bancshares Board of Directors. Donald, Jr., chairman of the Board of Directors of JD Bancshares Inc., announced the appointment in a news release. The appointment was effective Dec. 19, 2023.

Parish reschedules adjudicated property sale

St. Landry Parish Government regrets to inform the public that the adjudicated property sale, originally scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, has been postponed. This decision comes in response to the official journal failing to advertise the property listings in accordance with legal requirements.

Rotarians seek top citizen nominations

The Eunice Rotary Club is accepting nominations for the 2023 Citizen of the Year Award. The award aims to recognize someone who has shown extraordinary community spirit and given outstanding service to the greater Eunice community in 2023, although service for other years may be considered.
