The repaving of Maple Avenue is once again delayed, but not by much.
Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said he received notice from the state Department of Transportation and Development that the bid letting, once planned in October, is now scheduled for Jan. 13.
Fontenot said that would put the construction start around March.
Funding for the long-awaited project was first announced in July 2019. It was also announced then that the paving should take about four months to complete once the road work begins.
About two miles is to be paved.
The project was stymied by several vetoes from Gov. John Bel Edwards.
State Rep. Phillip DeVillier, R-Eunice, got the overlay of Maple Avenue — La. 91 — funded for $1.8 million in 2019.
Fontenot said he received notice of the delay on Nov. 13.
