The long-awaited Maple Avenue — La. 91 — repaving project was let by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, according to an announcement on Thursday.

When Gov. John Bel Edwards released the annual list of projects the surprise for Eunice residents surely was that $1.8 million for the overlay of La. 91 — Maple Avenue — had been cleared.

Number one on Gov. John Bel Edwards’ veto list was a $1.7 million overlay project for Maple Avenue, La. 91, in Eunice.
The vetoes were announced Wednesday.
The replacement of the bridge on West Maple Avenue and Bobcat Drive will result in an additional road closing beginning Tuesday.

The closure of Maple Avenue, La. 91, for the removal and replacement of the bridge is scheduled from Jan. 16 to Aug. 31, according to an announcement by the state Department of Transportation and Development.
