When Gov. John Bel Edwards released the annual list of projects the surprise for Eunice residents surely was that $1.8 million for the overlay of La. 91 — Maple Avenue — had been cleared.
A $1.8 million Maple Avenue paving project escaped a veto by Gov. John Bel Edwards as happened in previous years.

The vetoes were announced Wednesday.
The replacement of the bridge on West Maple Avenue and Bobcat Drive will result in an additional road closing beginning Tuesday.
