The amount of money that insurers expect to pay for the 2020 hurricanes continues to grow, albeit more slowly, as Louisiana gets further away from last year’s historic storm season, according to state Insurance Commissioner James Donelon.

Hurricane Ida slammed into southeast Louisiana on Sunday packing 155 mph winds that slowed into hellacious hours of destruction from Grand Isle north to Baton Rouge. The category 4 hurricane landed on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. About a million people were left without power.
