La. National Guard supports inauguration, returns home

The Louisiana National Guard responded to the District of Columbia National Guard’s request to send troops for assistance and within thirty-six hours from receiving their orders, 160 soldiers and airmen landed just outside of the D.C. area, Jan. 16.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office reports arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. January 28 Shonna Owens, 42, 1800 block of Melrose Street, Pineville. Possession of Schedule II CDS, possession of Schedule I CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia. Arrested by Louisiana State Police.

CDA monthly meeting set for Feb. 1 The Catholic Daughters of Americas will have a meeting a 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1 at the Jeanmard Hall. Members are encouraged to bring a canned good to give a donation to the Eunice Food Bank.

Fake inspection stickers showing up

Eunice City Marshal Terry Darbonne said his deputies have come across four of fake inspection stickers in the past couple of weeks.

Maple Avenue work planned this year

The Maple Avenue — La. 91 — repaving project is still scheduled this year with bid letting set in February. State Rep. Phillip DeVillier said project has been expanded and will now include the overlay from the T-intersection with La. 13 west to the Acadia Parish line.

Acadian Medical Center giving COVID-19 vaccinations

The supply may be limited, but Acadian Medical Center is joining the effort to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to the public. Kevin Frank, CEO, said the hospital gained access to the vaccine this month. Acadian Medical Center is not on the state Department of Health’s list of vaccine sites.
