March for Life is Friday in Eunice The annual March for Life is scheduled for noon Friday beginning at Picou’s Drug Store on 2nd Street for a socially distanced march to the Eunice City Hall in prayerful silence for a concluding prayer.

EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Michael William Pitre announces his passing on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington at the age of 53. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1 p.m.

Jason Robert Duran

Jason Robert Duran passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the age of 40. No Services have been planned at this time. Jason is survived by his parents, Robert and Ann Cooper Duran; one brother, Jonathan Duran and one sister, Jaime Duran.

Amar "Ronald" Johnson

Amar “Ronald” Johnson passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the age of 64. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home of Eunice with Deacon Chuck Ortego officiating. Burial will follow in Ashford Cemetery in Basile.

Registration, voting deadlines set for upcoming elections

The last day to register to vote by mail/in person is Feb. 17 for the primary election on March 20, announced Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters. Registration applications may be completed at the Registrar’s Office in Suite 114 of the St. Landry Parish Courthouse at 118 S.

More Mardi gras cancellations

The Tee-Mamou Iota Folklife Festival and the Tee Mamou Mardi Gras have independently canceled 2021 events due to COVID-19. The Folk Festival’s governing board and the Town of Iota worked together to reach the decision.
