St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz has formed a speed and traffic enforcement detail composed of off-duty deputies on overtime to focus on parish roads. Guidroz sated the deputies will be monitoring speeders, ATVs, RTVs, dirt bikes and other violations.

Opelousas man arrested on second-degree murder charge

A 25-year-old Opelousas man has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge in connection with a shooting in Melville, according to a news release from Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. But his court date was delayed because the suspect had to undergo surgery for a previous gunshot wound.
