Virus claims 16 lives in St. Landry Parish

The Louisiana Department of Health is attributing 16 deaths in St. Landry Parish to COVID-19. As of noon Wednesday there has been 116 cases of the virus in the parish. In the state, there have been 21,951 cases and 1,103 deaths.

Elaine Marie Manuel Newman, 69, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at her residence in Lafayette. Elaine was born May 1, 1950, in Eunice and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She graduated from Basile High School and went on to attend McNeese State University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree.

Suspect in dice game shooting sought
