The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) held its annual Matriculation Ceremony on Aug. 30, welcoming 150 new students to the school. The incoming class brings a wealth of experiences from all over Louisiana with 44 of the state’s 64 parishes being represented.

Swine Fest seeking talent show contestants, pork cook-off teams

There are many activities that make up the annual La. Swine Festival held in Basile every first weekend of November. Several of those activities are competitions such as the pig chase, the boudin eating contest, the hog calling contest, the talent show, and the pork cook off.

Utility rate hikes proposed at Mamou

UL Lafayette nursing college earns praise for end-of-life care training

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions has earned national recognition as a pioneer in end-of-life care education. The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium recently inducted the college into its Hall of Fame.
