Free Fun Day set at FUMC Sept. 21 The First United Methodist Church in Eunice will host a Fun Day from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. There will be family fun events and food including fun jumps, a dunking booth, hot dogs, sno-cones, games, popcorn and much more. The event is free.

Elaine Simon passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the age of 59. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home of Basile. Entombment will follow at St Francis Regis Mausoleum in Arnaudville, La.

Amy Jeanise passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the age of 93. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home of Eunice with Reverend Gary Mitchell officiating. Reverend Kevin Richard will read the obituary and deliver the eulogy.

Lead removal to close LDWF shooting ranges

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will conduct required lead removal at the Bodcau, Woodworth, Sherburne and Pearl River-Honey Island shooting ranges later this month and into October.

UL Lafayette to observe Constitution Day with ceremony

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will recognize the founding of the American republic with a naturalization ceremony, a panel discussion and a public reading of the U.S. Constitution. The activities are planned for Monday, a day before Constitution Day.

‘Crimes of the Heart’ opens Wednesday

The cast of “Crimes of the Heart” is putting the finishing touches on a scene from the play set to open Wednesday at Eunice Players’ Theatre.
