The Tri-Parish workforce shed 712 people in the workforce in July compared to July 2018, according to not seasonally adjusted numbers from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics released Friday. St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes’ workforce totaled 68,687 in July, down from 69,399 in July 2018.

A ban on burning in rural St. Landry Parish subdivisions is up for more discussion after the Parish Council approved it in June. At Wednesday’s meeting, the burn ban was sent back to a September committee meeting for more discussion.
