Geraldine Godeaux

Geraldine Godeaux passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the age of 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 12:00 PM at St. Thomas Chapel in Eunice. Father Wayne Duet will officiate. Burial will follow at St Thomas Chapel Cemetery.

Voter registration deadlines listed Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, has announced that the last day to register to vote in person or by mail for the Oct. 12 election will be Sept. 11. The deadline for GeauxVote.com online electronic registration will be Sept. 21.

New Sheriff’s Tax and Civil Building

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz announced a new Tax and Civil Building, 1618 E. Prudhomme St., Opelousas, will be fully operational and open to the public at 8:30 a.m. Monday. A grand opening ceremony will be held at a later date to be announced.

First sonography associate degree class receives pins

Seven LSU Eunice students became the first to receive pins in the university’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography associate degree program. LSUE has offered a certificate in diagnostic medical sonography for several years but upgraded the program to an associate degree last year.

Farmers and craft market organized in Church Point

More than 50 vendors participated in the first-ever Church Point Farmers and Craft Market on June 20. Mike Burrough, one of the event’s organizers, said, “I am very happy with the turnout. The prices are good, there are plenty of vendors and the food is fantastic. It really is a success.
