St. Louis Cemetery asking for donations The St. Louis Cemetery, located at the corner of St. Louis Road and Sittig in Eunice is seeking donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery strictly operates by donations and volunteers. The cemetery is not a private one.

Gov. Edwards' update on Tropical Storm Barry

Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards met with the Unified Command Group to continue coordinating the state’s response to Tropical Storm Barry and the ongoing flood fight in Louisiana, which has reached day 260. “This storm has our attention,” said Gov. Edwards.

Concert rescheduled

The Eunice Community Concert Band & Choir has rescheduled its performance date to 6 p.m. July 28 at the Liberty Center. Tickets purchased for the July 11 and 12 dates will be honored. The performance were cancelled due to Tropical Storm Barry and air conditioning issues at the Liberty Center.

River drowned big scheme

Big plans were afoot in the late spring of 1915 “to promote and build up the town of Krotz Springs” by bottling and selling the spring water that gave the town its name.

Zack Landry has a unique career that 99.5 percent of us would not like to have. Landry is a tower technician for Daley Tower Service, Inc. out of Carencro. It is not uncommon for Landry, who is only 19, to spend two hours getting to his destination to make an inspection.

Zydeco Breakfast to feature Mike Broussard & Nu Edition Zydeko

The City of Opelousas, Zydeco Capital of the World, hosts the 17th Annual Zydeco Breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 31 under the oak trees surrounding the historic St. Landry Parish Courthouse. Mike Broussard & Nu Edition Zydeko is to perform.
