Lionel John Manuel

Lionel John Manuel passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the age of 85. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home. Deacon Charles Ortego will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Chataignier.

Elizabeth "Beth" Veillon Manuel

EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Manuel announces her passing on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at her home with loving family by her side. She was 63.

Farmers Market at DMV parking lot The Eunice Farmers’ Market is held in the DMV parking lot, and normally is open from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturdays. However, on the third Saturday of each month the market is joined by outside vendors and the market remains open until 3 p.m.

The road that opened the last frontier

In early 1949 people were talking again about finally building a road to Pecan Island, the isolated chenier south of Abbeville, but nobody was taking bets that it would actually happen.

Basile burglary suspect wounded

A fourth suspect in a burglary in the 1000 block of Easy Street of Basile is being sought. The burglary occurred about 2 a.m. June 10. Evangeline Parish Sheriff Eddie Soileau said in a news release, “A male subject identified as Bailey Richardson entered the home through a bedroom window.
