Hank Williams Sr. tribute is Jan. 12 The Tribute to Hank Williams Sr. is scheduled at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Liberty Center for the Performing Arts. The emcee will be Barry Ancelet. Special guests will be Hugh Harris, Jo-El Sonnier, Yvette Landry, Benjamin Bruce, Luke Huval and Terry Huval.

LifeShare hold blood drive in Eunice Wednesday

LifeShare Blood Center will hold a blood drive on Dec. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Walmart in Eunice and on Dec. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Walmart in Ville Platte. Mark Lioret, with LifeShare Blood Center, stressed the importance of donating blood during this time of the year.

Eunice to party like its 1894

The details are far from complete, but Eunice is on the verge of a party to celebrate its 125th year. Mayor Scott Fontenot said he hopes to have a committee put together in January to start planning the celebration.

Fifty years ago on Christmas Eve, three astronauts were orbiting the Moon. They were the first humans to view Earth from that vantage. Their experience was shared on a grainy black and white television transmission.

Tri-Parish LSU graduates listed

LSU recognized 1,950 graduates at the university’s 297th commencement exercises on Dec. 14. The 1,950 degrees awarded is a new record for LSU’s fall graduation.

UL Lafayette Spring 2018 President’s, Dean’s lists
