I thought Facebook knew too much about me, but it turns out Google is even worse. Google, like Facebook, makes its money by targeting ads at us that reflect our interests and needs. The more both know about us, the better they’re able to target us with ads we’re likely to click.

Ribbon-cutting event for mural

The mural at Walnut and 2nd streets in Eunice was the site of a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday sponsored by the Eunice Chamber of Commerce. The mural by Hannah Gumbo, of Eunice, was funded by a $5,000 grant from Acadiana Cetner for Arts ArtsSpark and Lafayette Economic Development Authority.

Tips sought in Crowley homicide

Deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide which occurred before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the Kathy Apartment complex in Crowley. Deputies located the victim behind a set of apartments with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Rayne shooting suspect sought

Rayne Police are seeking the public’s assistance to locate Paul L. Wheeler. Wheeler is accused of shooting at two people near the intersection of North Bradford and A School Street in Rayne at about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 9.

State Police: Opelousas man exits stopped vehicle, struck dead

An Opelousas man exited his stopped vehicle at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and was struck dead by a car on La. 3043 near National Road in St. Landry Parish, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I. Police said Kelwin K. Cassimere, 41, was driving a 2003 Cadillac CTS northbound on La.
