Easter gunplay ends with wounded juvenile

A juvenile was wounded below his left knee after a teen twirled a .22-caliber pistol with his index finger on the porch of a residence in the 200 block of North 8th Street on Easter, according to a Eunice Police report. Tristen Romero, 17, 200 block of North 8th Street, Eunice.

Anti-human trafficking event scheduled

The St. Landry – Evangeline Anti-human Trafficking Task Force will educate the community on human trafficking during National Crime Prevention Week. The event will be held at 6 p.m. April 10 at the Delta Grand Theater in Opelousas. Screening of the documentary “Not My Life” will begin at 6 p.m.

Police: Drunk driver caused crash

A 30-year-old Berwick woman allegedly caused a vehicle crash in Morgan City while intoxicated and then began punching a window of the other vehicle involved in the crash, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release. —Krystal N. Tolento, 30, of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:26 a.m.

Patterson begins choosing interim chief

PATTERSON — The process of replacing Police Chief Patrick LaSalle is underway. The Patterson City Council could have an interim replacement for LaSalle, who retired Friday after more than 20 years on the job here, as early as April 16.
