St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Aug. 8 Jared Keith Prudhomme, 38, 2600 block of I-49 North Service Road, Opelousas. Theft of utility service; two bench warrants. Tevin Tevonte Jenkins, 24, 1800 block of Parkview Drive, Opelousas.

News notes

Rotary golf tourney set for Aug. 12 The Eunice Rotary Club will hold a golf tournament Aug. 12 at Koasati Pines at Coushatta Casino in Kinder. The cost is $100 per player or $400 a team. All proceeds goes to the Eunice Community Health Center. Registration and payment deadline is Aug. 10.

Clifton Prudhomme

A funeral service for Cliff Prudhomme, 94, will be held on Tuesday, August 8, at 11:00 AM at Quirk & Son Funeral home with burial to follow at Bellow Cemetery. Deacon David Guillory will officiate. Visitation will begin on Monday, August 7, from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

Claude Ledet preserves a piece of Abbeville history

By Mary Lagroue Intern As the caretaker of his grandfather’s antique pistol and police baton, Claude Ledet has preserved a piece of Abbeville history. Ledet, who was raised in Abbeville, inherited the pistol and baton from his parents.
