The following are arrests by Eunice Police. July 21 Melissa Brooke Boulet, 35, 100 block of Boudreaux Street, Eunice. Theft, five counts of prescription drugs. Gerome Kyle White, 33, 700 block of Lewis Street, Eunice. Second-degree battery.

Ude Mae Fuselier

EUNICE~It is with great sadness that the family of Ude Mae Fuselier announces her passing on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Eunice Manor at the age of 86. A memorial service to honor the life and memory of Ude Mae Fuselier will be announced at a later date.

EPT presents ‘Red, White & Tuna’ Eunice Player’s Theatre will present “Red, White and Tuna” beginning Thursday. The presentation, by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday, July 30, and Aug. 2, a dinner theater will be offered; Aug. 4, Aug. 5 and Aug. 6.

The fatal shootout at Bois Mallet

At dawn on a muggy morning in late July 1916, Sheriff Marion L. Swords was in the Mallet Woods in rural St. Landry Parish, watching an old cabin where he thought a murder suspect was hiding. It would be the last sunrise “one of the best-known politicians in Louisiana” would ever see.

Ville Platte mayor gets OK to sell land

The Ville Platte City Council gave Mayor Jennifer Vidrine the authority to negotiate and conclude sales of city property for the purposes of developing detached single-family homes. It also agreed to review the fines associated with failure to wear reflective gear at night.

he case of Dr. Drip, a former champion racehorse discovered in horrible condition and euthanized on June 21, was brought to the St. Landry Parish Council. Agnes Courville, of Opelousas, asked the Council to look at its ordinance dealing with animal abuse. Fines for abuse range from $25 to $100.
