A 19-year-old man has been arrested on two counts of sexual battery of a juvenile. St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said Lawrence Kenneth Richard, 100 block of Louise Street, Grand Coteau, was arrested on July 10.

Man accused of beating, imprisoning girlfriend

A 55-year-old man has been arrested for domestic violence and false imprisonment of his girlfriend after St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a welfare complaint, according to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Acadia Parish Crime Stoppers needs help to solve a burglary

The Crowley Police Department is investigating a vehicle burglary that occurred at about 11:30 p.m. June 18. The victim’s purse was stolen and a credit card was used at Burger King in Lafayette. A suspect is described as a black male with dreads and a beard.

Making candy at Prairie Acadian Cultural Center

The Eunice News won three first-place awards in the Louisiana Press Association Better Newspaper Competition for 2016. The awards were presented Saturday during the Mississippi Press Association/Louisiana Press Association Joint Convention in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Aldermen vote to condemn 2 properties

Eunice aldermen voted Tuesday to condemn two properties and gave a reprieve to others until their August meeting. A house damaged by fire last year at 1050 Faris Ave. has been condemned, which means the city may eventually demolish it.
