First Washington Community Festival set March 19

The Washington Community Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 19, on the town lot and along Main Street in Washington. Vendors will be lined up for three city blocks up and down Main Street. Music during the day will be provided by a dis jockey until 5 p.m.

Brandon Ledet to perform at the parish Visitor Center

Zydeco accordionist and band leader Brandon Ledet leads the Zydeco Capital Jam from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center, I-49 exit 23, north of Opelousas. Since February 2019, the jam has welcomed seasoned zydeco musicians and newcomers to play in St.

City receives $5M grant for sewer plant

The City of Eunice received a $5 million grant for sewer improvements, announced Mayor Scott Fontenot at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting. Fontenot said the city has secured nearly $9 million for the project expected to cost about $12 million.

St. Landry Parish School Board tax proposals go to voters Saturday

Three St Landry Parish School Board tax proposals go before voters in early voting that starts Saturday. Early voting continues Monday through March 19 at the Eunice City Hall and the Registrar of Voters Office in the parish courthouse in Opelousas. Voting hours are 8:30 am. to 6 p.m.
