Higgins announces funding for Eunice airport

Congressman Clay Higgins (R-Port Barre) announced that the Eunice Airport and Southland Field in Sulphur will receive over $1.6 million from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for infrastructure improvements.

Precinct split posed at Parish Council

The St. Landry Parish Council continued to ponder voting precincts in a special meeting. Chairman Dexter Brown introduced an ordinance on Monday to split some precincts in what’s called an “alpha split” that divides voters alphabetically in a polling place.

Surveillance system eyed for Eunice

Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot was authorized by the Board of Aldermen to obtain prices for a surveillance system for high-crime areas of Eunice. The move follows a shooting at Laurel Avenue and Nimitz Street that killed two people include one man who was bystander.
