Teen killed after report of prowling armed mob ed

After the report of an armed mob walking on Perrotti Street, 18-year-old Fredrick Stevens Jr. was found shot dead in the 200 block of Fusilier Street on Sunday evening. Police Chief Kyle LeBouef stated police were notified at about 10 p.m.

Son of a Eunice bull rider, now a neuroscientist, plans a homecoming

Dr. Joseph LeDoux is planning a party in Eunice as a chance to chat with his friends here and entertain them. A 1967 graduate of Eunice High School, LeDoux returns to Eunice often, but will hold a homecoming event at 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Gabrielle’s.

Eunice state-funded projects noted at meeting

A meeting called Wednesday provided an opportunity for the Eunice mayor and police chief to discuss funding approved by the Legislature and governor for projects here. In a news release, Parish President Jessie Bellard stated the the projects were being announced.

Tri-Parish workforce drops by 479 in July The Tri-Parish workforce dropped by 479 people or 0.7% in July compared to July 2024, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The workforce totaled 68,732 in July, down from 69, 211 in July 2024.

Traffic stop nets drug arrest

A Eunice man stopped for speeding on West Laurel Avenue at about 8 p.m. Wednesday ended up with not only a speeding ticket, but a slew of other charges. A Eunice Police officer stopped Deshawn Wheeler, 27, of Eunice, for speeding.

Are elderberries a nuisance or nature’s gift?

There’s an old saying that one person’s trash is another’s treasure. It’s a similar story for elderberries — nuisance for some, valuable crop to others. It’s true: Elderberries do behave like weeds in many ways. These large shrubs pop up along fences, in ditches, on vacant lots.

A new look planned for the Eunice Library

A new look to the Eunice Public Library was shown by Dr Tony Baltakis to Eunice Rotarians at their Wednesday meeting. The plan is to restore the outside of the library to its original state with a red brick exterior, he said Dr.

St. Landry Parish marriage licenses

The following people obtained marriage license from the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court Office. Wednesday, Aug. 20 Kameron David Jensen and Brandi Michelle Matt, both of Bend, Oregon. Friday, Aug. 22 Curtis Roy Haynes of Port Barre and Vaddy Marie Charles, of Opelousas.
