Downtown Litter Walk set Sept. 20 The National Public Lands Day will have a Downtown Eunice Litter Walk Day on Saturday, Sept. 20 with registration from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and the walk from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and water and snacks from 11:30 until noon. Volunteers are needed.

In Minneapolis, ingrained hatreds rise again to violence

The first comment I heard after the attack on Catholic schoolchildren in Minneapolis last week was from the city’s mayor, Jacob Frey, who said: “Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers just now. These kids were literally praying.” Initially, it didn’t strike me as particularly problematic.

Sunset couple arrested for cruelty to the infirmed

A Sunset couple are charged with cruelty to an infirmed person after a report from the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Aging and Adult Services. St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated, “Capt. Lynnette Chavis, our specialist in these cases, launched an investigation.

Louisiana drummer Dave Nezat, who was a native of Eunice, has died in Lafayette following a long career drumming for notable local and national acts, including Grammy winning group Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.

St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad Pitre will ask that a Eunice man be sentenced as a habitual criminal. Billy James Thomas, 49, of Eunice, was found guilty by a 12-person jury on Aug.
