Congressional races draw a crowd

On the final day of qualifying, the race for the 5th Congressional District seat ended up with 13 candidates. The 5th District includes much of northeast Louisiana and stretches south to Opelousas. Qualifying ended on Friday with a two-way race for St. Landry Parish president.

George Dominique Pere

George Dominique Pere passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the age of 79. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Abbeville, La. George is survived by two brothers; John M. Pere, Jr.
