Church Point man sentenced for cocaine distribution

Elton J. Richard, III, 44, of Church Point, was sentenced Thursday to 57 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, according to a news release from Acting U.S. Attorney Alexander Hook. U.S. District Judge James Cain Jr.

14-year-old boy killed in Church Point shooting

A 14-year-old boy is dead and an 18-year-old is in jail following a shooting in Church Point Tuesday night. Sheriff K.P. Gibson said the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Church Point Police conducted an investigation into the incident in the corporate limits of Church Point.
