The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. September 18 Randy Antonio Joseph, 40, 100 block of Anna Street, Sunset. Disturbing the peace, threatening a public official, resisting an officer, bench warrant. Arrested by Sunset Police.

Fred Landry, age 76, of Eunice, Louisiana, passed away, Friday, September 18, 2020. Clarksville Funeral Home of Clarksville, Texas is handling arrangements: Dr. Fred Neal Landry, of Euncie, Louisiana, formerly of Clarksville, passed away, Friday, September 18, 2020, at his residence.

Michael Joseph Fontenot

Michael Joseph Fontenot passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the age of 64. No Services have been planned at this time.

Eunice Police Arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. September 18 Laura J. Prudhomme, 39, homeless. Bench warrant. Jeffery S. Thibodeaux, 34, 2300 block of Richard School Road, Church Point. Bench warrant. April M. Cheatwood, 32, 400 block of Corn, Eunice. Monetary instrument abuse.

Concealed carry class The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting a one-day concealed carry class at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 26 at 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice. The course is $100 dollars and $80 for a spouse.

Gov. Edwards urges preparation to Tropical Storm Beta

Gov. John Bel Edwards and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) urge everyone to prepare for heavy rainfall and the threat of storm surge and flooding in certain regions of the state due to Tropical Storm Beta.

St. Landry Parish sandbags available

St. Landry Parish government began issuing sandbags for parish residents at 9:30 a.m. Sunday and continuing until sunset and again on Monday at the Yambilee Building located at 1939 West Landry St. (US 190) in Opelousas.

LSUE enrollment up 5%

Solid Waste Commission members voted a raise

St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Commission members will receive an extra $50 for every meeting they attend. The 33% raise in the per diem was approved by eight St. Landry Parish Council members at a meeting Wednesday in Opelousas held in the Delta Grand Theater.
