The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. May 3 Lawrence B. Leger, Jr., 53, 100 block of Beauxis Drive, Port Barre. Domestic abuse battery. Arrested by Port Barre Police Department. Ashley Thomas Haynes, 31, 700 block of W. Cherry Street, Opelousas.

Eunice Police Arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. May 2 Chad Alleman, 49, 1500 block of W. Gum, Eunice. Bench warrant. Joseph D. Bertrand, 59, 100 block of W. Bacciochi, Eunice. No insurance, driver’s license suspension, license plate improper display, bench warrant.

SLEMCO agrees to purchase Knight Oil Tools facility

SLEMCO has entered into an agreement to purchase the Knight Oil Tool campus, near the Lafayette airport, and will relocate its headquarters once the purchase is complete, the electric co-operative announced in a news release on Monday. The purchase is expected to be final in 60 days.

Public safety pay raise on ballot

By Harlan Kirgan Editor Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot and Police Chief Randy Fontenot are calling the 0.25 percent sales tax on Saturday’s ballot a little tax with a big impact. The tax, which amounts to a penny on $4 spent, is to pay for increasing the starting police officer pay from $9.

St. Edmund Spring Fair

The annual St. Edmund Spring Fair will be held Friday through Sunday at the school grounds. There will be fair rides, games, and much more to enjoy for the entire family. There will be bingo all weekend, with a big bingo at 8 p.m. Saturday and at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Eunice Police records clerk wins Rotary Club honor

Julie Shaw, Eunice Police Department’s records clerk won the Eunice Rotary Club Administrative Professional of the Year Award. The award was presented to Shaw during the annual luncheon at St. Thomas More Social Hall Wednesday. Shaw was nominated by Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.
