The Memorial Day ceremony is held as a reminder to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, said VFW Post Commander 8971 Donnie Fontenot as he stood near the monument with those who died in service to the nation.

Two suspects wanted for armed robbery arrested and booked

Douglas Charles Thorton, 19, of Baton Rouge, and Marlon Keith Brown, 18, of Alexandria, were arrested and booked into the St. Landry Parish Correctional Center on May 26 for armed robbery. According to Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef, they both turned themselves in without incident.
