Early voting points to November turnout reaching 60%

Early voting numbers are leading Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, to predict the turnout for the Nov. 6 election may be as high as 60 percent. As of Friday afternoon, there had been 316 votes cast in Eunice and 2,047 placed in Opelousas.

Trick or Treat downtown is Wednesday

The sixth annual Trick or Treat will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday beginning at corner of Laurel Avenue and South 2nd Street. There will be booths along the way with goodies and activities for children. Children, age 12 and under, must wear costumes, and must be accompanied by an adult.

Eunice leaders start 
planning process

About 40 Eunice leaders began the process that may lead to a comprehensive plan for the city at a meeting at Acadian Medical Center, according to Bill Rodier, executive director of the St. Landry Parish Economic Development.
