Abbeville Police to enforce daytime curfew in city

Kids are back in school as the sun has set on summer fun. Now that school is back in session, Abbeville Chief of Police William Spearman wants to remind parents and legal guardians that officers will be enforcing the city’s daytime curfew for ages 7 to 17.

Curbs voted on peddlers

Eunice aldermen voted to sharply curb the activities of door-to-door peddlers with the approval of an ordinance setting times, requiring permits, identification and fines. The ordinance passed at Tuesday’s city meeting at City Hall.

More students in state earning AP credits

More Louisiana high school students than ever before earned college-credit qualifying scores on Advanced Placement (AP) exams in 2018, according to data released by the Louisiana Department of Education. This year 7,330 students earned AP credit, up from 6,519 a year ago and 2,747 in 2012.

Eunice High leads parish ACT results

Eunice High School leads St. Landry Parish in the number of students earning college credits through the Advanced Placement exams. In the 2017-2018 school year, there were 49 students taking AP exams and 20.4 percent scored 3 or greater, which qualified them for college credit.
