Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. July 18 Stefan Joseph Coleman, 31, 500 block of North Batiste Street, Church Point. Resisting and officer, MVI sticker expired, cancelled license plate, no insurance and driver’s license suspended-revocation.

BASILE~God called another angel home. The family of Katheline Jean DeRousell Henry wishes to announce her passing on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at The Carriage House Assisted Living at the Verandah in Lake Charles with her loving family by her side. She was 81.

Purse-snatching suspects arrested in Acadia Parish

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a purse snatching incident which occurred Friday, July 13, on Holland Road just north of Crowley arrested two people Deputies received a call regarding the citizen following a person who had just stolen a purse from a resident on Holland Road.

Info sought about Iota residential burglary

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators are seeking the public’s assistance regarding a residential burglary that was reported on July 10 in the 1900 block of Ray Milner Road in Iota. Items were stolen out of a home being remodeled.

Auctioneer accused of writing $175K in worthless checks

The owner of an auction company is being sought for writing more than $150,000 in worthless checks, according to WAFB TV in Baton Rouge. According to the WAFB report: “Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers reported Jacob Brown, 36, is wanted by Louisiana State Police.

Burglar hit Lawtell business

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and is asking the public’s help in solving a July 4 burglary at Dave’s Monument in the Lawtell area. The owner reported that she was notified that an older model black GMC Yukon was parked in front of the business at 8:20 p.m.

Young ending 32 years on School Board

Roger Young, District 11 St. Landry Parish School Board member, said Tuesday he does not intend to run for re-election. Young, 94, said he will have served 32 years on the parish School Board. The educator began his career in teaching at Hackberry in 1949 and 1950.

Ballot holy wave builds

A rather holy wave may be building for the 2019 election cycle in the form of pastors and faith-based advocates qualifying as candidates, according to Rev. Gene Mills, the executive director of the Louisiana Family Forum.
