St. Landry Parish School Board honors

The St. Landry Parish School Board recognized several people included three from Eunice at the May 1 meeting.

Bill prohibits requiring race, gender classes

A Louisiana legislative committee has dramatically rewritten an anti-DEI policy proposal for state agencies that would now prohibit schools from requiring certain race and gender-based curriculum for undergraduate students.

Heavy rain ‘could have been worse’

Rains of about 6 inches from Tuesday overnight into Wednesday took a toll on the parish, “but it could have been been a lot worse as everybody knows,” St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard said at Wednesday’s Parish Council meeting in Opelousas.

Club congratulates Johnson on awards

Members of the Bulb & Blossom Garden Club gathered for their monthly meeting held at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The business meeting centered around programming ideas and topics for next year. The club takes a break during July and August and will begin again in September.
