The following are excerpts from the Eunice Police Department radio dispatch logs. Wednesday, Nov. 6 10:30 a.m. Welfare check on a subject in the 800 block of Park. 11:31 a.m. Caller in the 400 block of Cotton requested an officer in regards to a subject threatening to harm himself.

St. Landry Parish burn ban lifted

St. Landry Parish Government is lifting the parish-wide burn ban, effective Thursday. The decision comes as rainfall has significantly reduced fire risks in the area. Residents are now permitted to resume outdoor burning activities but are urged to exercise caution to prevent accidental fires.

Woman charged in infant’s death

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an unresponsive infant in the Tulip Drive area on Oct. 27. Deputy Patrick Martin found persons at the scene performing CPR on an infant. Martin took over CPR while awaiting the arrival of EMS (emergency medical services).
