With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of a beloved soul as we announce the passing of Judy Ann Martin on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in Eunice, Louisiana at the age of 69. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Traffic stop yields haul of weapons, ammo

A traffic stop by Eunice Police on Tuesday yielded a haul of weapons, including one AR-style rifle reported stolen out of East Feliciana Parish, and the arrest of the driver, Jaheim Joseph, 20, Opelousas, according to Police Chief Kyle LeBouef. At about 11:40 p.m.

The Tri-Parish workforce grew by 496 people in March compared to a year ago, but unemployment rates were up, according to data released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The workforce for St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes in March totaled 68,220, up 0.

Arrest made in Saturday shooting

An 18-year-old Eunice man is charged in connection with numerous shots being fired at about 4 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Jelks Street. Nicholas Vigee, of the 900 block of Tate Street, Eunice, was arrested at about 5:30 a.m.

Fire kills man in motor home in rural Acadia Parish

A fire killed a man in a motor home at 1643 Atterbury Road in Acadia Parish, according to Acadia Parish Fire District 4 Fire Chief Harral Johnson. Johnson said the dispatch to the fire occurred at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday for the motor home fire with a male inside.
